Review Week 6

What is the pen tool used for?The pen tool is used to make curved lines or straight lines.

How can you manipulate a path/line in Illustrator? Discuss the use of the white arrow tool, pen+, pen-, and convert too.
The White arrow tool can be used to smooth out lines or move them around if needed. The Pen+ is used to create extra anchor points to manipulate with the white arrow tool. Te pen_ tool is used to delete extra points created. The convert tool can straighten out curves to a vertex point.

How can you utilize the layers palette in Illustrator?
The layers palette is used to separate layers of artwork for more maneuverability. Also it can prevent over lapping or writing on other layers that you are already finished with.

How do you create a clipping mask in Adobe Illustrator?
Use the rectangular tool to make a square around your artwork , then highlight everything with the black arrow tool. Arrange everything to the front in the objects menu then create clipping mask, also in the objects menu.

Review Week 5

For each of the 5 elements of design (shape, line, texture, space, value), find an example that utilizes each element within the design (Google search for poster design, advertisements, etc). You should have 5 DIFFERENT sample designs. 
Shape. This star design utilizes shape by using different kinds. All the shapes put together make a structure that people can see. This enhancement is useful even though it is repetitive. Even so it looks simple using different shapes together is quite difficult. 


 This nature design initially uses line artwork. By placing a lot of lines in different positions a picture is made.  Also this placement of lines used a 3D effect when you look at it. This enhancement and angle of lines can emit a different feeling of movement or triumph.
This sand picture is of texture. By using the left side of the sand mountain wavy and the right side smooth it shows a difference. Texture can be seen as rough or smooth and anything in between. This enhancement shows that a design can be many textures and not be plain in touch.
This picture uses the element of space. By placement of different pictures the space creates a feeling of mystery. The space around the objects, whether negative or positive, adds more to the pictures emotion. The enhancement

Why/how can icons be used to communicate?
 Icons are used to show people the main purpose or objective of a certain place, facility, shop, or item.

Via the internet, find 2 examples of common icons that clearly communicate their message. Post both in this entry.


What is the difference between copyright and public domain?
Copyright is a term used to show that a product belongs to somebody.
Public Domain is used to show that a product can be used openly for everyone to use.

How can you avoid plagairism in this class? In other classes?
You can avoid plagiarism by citing an item you've used or using something similar but in your own vision without copying any significant items.

What is OSHA? What do the letters stand for?
OSHA stands for the Occupational Safety and Healthy Administration.

How can graphic designers effectively communicate? In your own words, explain the communication process.
Graphic Designers make images, posters, ect. to appeal to the world using lines, shapes, and other marks.

Understanding the history, culture and movements of fine and graphic arts will make you a better producer of visual messages. Why?
When knowing the history you are able to understand a better concept of what you are doing or making for the people. Culture and movements are helpful to know the different designs you could make for the purpose of what you're creating.
